It was interesting to see the commitments made at the G20 summit last week and re-assuring to note that green and sustainable recovery featured amongst the six pledges made by the world leaders meeting in London.
One wonders if Bush had still been in presidency, whether the “green” component would have featured at all. It’s great to see the broader enlightened view that Obama brings to the party.

The impact of climate change on the economy could potentially be far worse than the current recession that we’re experiencing. The trillions of dollars spent to date would pale into insignificance compared to the impact on the population, agriculture, and environmental change. The next major international event is the UN conference on Climate Change in December. This will be a real opportunity for the US to demonstrate its new commitment to this topic.
